How will iOS 10 and Android Nougat influence your Visiolink app(s)

Autumn is the time of year where Apple and Google release new products and operating systems. With new operating systems come new features and functionality, but they may also affect the functionality in live apps.  Our developers and Quality Assurance team have worked with the beta versions from Google and Apple for months, and this is what we have found:  

Android 7.0 Nougat – minor issues affecting few apps 

We have uncovered errors in certain links on the starting page of the app. Affected customers will be contacted directly.  Read more about Android 7.0 Nougat 

iOS 10 – compatibility upgrades recommended 

Our QA department has worked hard to test all aspects of our apps on iOS 10, and they found a couple of features that need to be fixed and updated:

  • Zoom function that magnifies text in Article View and Live feed does not work. Affects some apps
  • Minor issues with navigation in Picture Gallery
  • Live news section on Enriched Starting Page with light theme is too transparent

Even though the issues found are minor, Visiolink recommends an upgrade to ensure full compatibility with iOS 10. If forward compatibility is included in your contract, Visiolink will upgrade your apps during the next months and contact you when the new version is ready to go live. No action is needed on your side. If you have already booked a project, Visiolink will ensure compatibility with iOS 10 if this is possible before the agreed submit date. Visiolink project managers will provide further information.    If your contract does not include forward compatibility, we will contact you with a price and time frame for the upgrade.
