Custom dimensions and metrics allow you to combine Analytics data with non-Analytics data. Visiolink has decided to implement 14 custom dimensions, which are sent with every hit in Google Analytics. The 14 custom dimensions are:
- Client (Platform)
- App Version
- Publication Title
- Orientation
- Section
- Customer Title
- User ID - Hit
- User ID - User
- User ID - Session
- Source of User ID
- Customer Data
- Push Token
- Client ID
- Bundle ID
The custom dimensions can help you gain more information about your users. You can see from which platform the majority of your traffic is generated and which titles are most popular with the users. Furthermore, you will be able to see the popularity of the individual sections and the reader orientation.
The custom dimensions have to be created in Google Analytics. If you have not created them yet, follow this guide and you a find the data:

Client
The Client Dimension describes the platform from which the events are sent.
App Version
The App Version Dimension describes which version of your Visiolink application the events are sent.
Publication Title
The Publication Title Dimension describes the title of the publication from which the events are sent.
Orientation
The Orientation Dimension describes the orientation with each event (Landscape or Portrait)
Section
The Section Dimension describes the section from which the events are sent.
Customer Title
The Customer Title Dimension describes from which paper the events are sent. (This dimension is useful if your solution has more than one title)
User ID
Sends a unique user id which can be generated based on a Customer id, Server id or Client Id. If you have user tracking the user id will be a custom generated id from your validation system.
Soruce of User ID
Sends the source of the user id. The user id is generated from a custom, server or client basis.
Push token
A Push token is unique generated Id for an App. If an app is deleted an reinstalled a new push token is created.
Client ID
Bundle ID
Is the package name for the app. Is used if you have multiple apps which uses the same UA-id, the bundle Id can the be used to see from which app the data comes from.
