Introduction
This is a guide on how to use the CleverPush integration in your Vitec Visiolink app. This guide will mainly go over the settings relevant for sending a simple push notification with or without an “app banner”/”in app message”.
Navigate to notification creation
To create a new push notification, first you need to click on the “Create new” button from the menu at the top of the webpage.
- The next step is to select which channel(s) you would like to send a push message to.
- When you have selected your channel(s), you will see many different settings appearing.
- Outside of “channels” are all the settings under Targeting Group optional, and most of them are self-explanatory. The most important things to consider here is whether the notification should target both platforms (iOS + Android), and which Topics should be target (if the app contains multiple topics).
Message settings
Once the settings for the targeting group have been selected, the next step is to set up the Message itself.
- Mandatory settings: Write a Headline for the push message and insert the URL that should open when a user clicks on the notification. (For help with universal links check out our guide here: Guide to Universal links, under the section headlined “Generating Links”).
It is IMPORTANT that you make sure that the checkbox, Include UTM parameters is unchecked. The reason being that the UTM parameters in some cases ruins the way the app should handle to URL, so some URLs that should be opened inside the app (e.g. open an article view) might instead be opened as a webpage in an external browser.
-
Optional settings: There are many optional things that can be added to the push notification. Some of the most used are:
- Text – Some text for the push notification.
- Icon / Image – both being ways to display pictures with the push notification.
- App banner – A message that is shown inside the app when a user clicks on the notification. The app banner also appears for users who already have the app open at the time the notification was sent.
-
Optional: Setting up an app banner
- Mark the checkbox Open App Banner on Click
- Either select an already created template or banner, or click the button Edit App Banner to start setting it up.
Delivery settings
Here you can plan when the message should be sent out.
