Important information about Googe Analytics
As many of you might already know, several European Union Data Protection Authorities have deemed the use of Google Analytics non GDPR compliant, due to the data transfers to the United States. Google Analytics is the standard tracking platform at Visiolink and we are therefore following these rulings closely and are evaluating the use together with our lawyers.
Related to this we have for a while been planning the upgrade from Universal Analytics to Google Analytics 4 (GA4), as the current Universal Analytics will stop processing data from July 1, 2023. For now, we will continue our planning and upgrade to GA4.
GA4 has several user privacy improvements compared to Universal Analytics. However, it is still not GDPR compliant, due to the data transfer to the U.S. We are monitoring announcements from the Privacy Shield agreement between EU, United States and Google that could make GA4 GDPR compliant. Friday October 7thU.S. President Joe Biden signed order to implement a European Union-United States data transfer framework Reuters: EU-U.S. data privacy framework - This agreement will hopefully make GA4 fully GDPR complaint.
Therefore, we will continue our upgrade to GA4 that will be possible to book with Visiolink from January 1, 2023 to July 1, 2023. Further announcement and planning of this upgrade will follow.
