Validations

With this feature you can deactivate / activate the validation of your publications in the hub. This applies to your native app(s) (i.e. iOS & Android) and to your web app(s).

The possibility to deactivate the validation to later reactivate it is very useful especially in critical situations:

  • If one day your validation service is down and you quickly need to grant access to your publications while you work to resolve the issues with your validation service
  • If bad weather has prevented the distribution of the printed edition, and you quickly need to grant access to the digital edition for those subscribers who only have a subscription to the printed edition.

Device (iOS & Android)

Our access control is set up at title level in the native apps. This means that when a user clicks on a publication, our validation script sends a request to your validation service, and depending on which response we receive, we grant access (- or not).

For that reason, the device validation can be deactivated / activated for each individual title in the app:

Web App

Since our access control on web is typically set up at web app level, it is only possible to deactivate / activate the validation at the web app level:

NB! Deactivating the validation on web is only possible if your web solution is a web app. If you have another web solution, it is not possible to deactivate / activate the validation on web through the hub.

Scheduled deactivation of the validation

With scheduled deactivation of the validation, you are able to set a time interval during which the validation will be deactivated.

The possibility to schedule a deactivation of the validation is very useful in situations where you have some knowledge of the future:

  • If you know that your validation service will be down for a period of time because of maintenance work and you therefore need to temporarily grant access to your publications
  • If you know (eg. from a weather report) that bad weather will prevent the distribution of the printed edition and for this reason you will need to temporarily grant access to the digital edition to those subscribers who only have a subscription to the printed edition.

To add an interval you just click on the clock symbol on the right:

Once you have specified the dates for which period the validation should be deactivated, click on "Add Interval":
